Critical Role Campaign 4 Unveils the Warriors Table

From the very beginning of the fourth campaign, new Dungeon Master Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with deep backstory, a wide array of heroes, and a gripping narrative showcasing celestial beings, fiends, and malevolent powers increasing in influence within the urban setting.

Warning: Revealing details for Episode 3 of Campaign 4 follow below.

The Warrior Group Unveiled

The third episode finished on a huge suspense moment and revealed the first table of characters who will separate from the main group to embark on their separate journey, apart from the remaining groups.

This warrior group includes Teor (brought to life by the voice actor), the nimble rogue (the talented performer), Tyranny (Whitney Moore), Wicander (the player), and Kattigan Vale (the actor).

Why Split the Party?

With 13 cast members, it was obvious from the beginning that keeping everyone at a single group would be unworkable.

Hence, the opening chapters of the new season serve as an Prelude, connecting the individual narratives before splitting into three smaller tables: Soldiers, Planners, and Questers.

The Nature of the Combat Party

As described by the Dungeon Master, the combat-focused party is for participants who prefer a traditionally charged combat and conflict-driven gameplay experience where diplomatic options are few and far between.

Initially, figures such as the squeamish cleric the cleric might seem out of place, but the events of the third episode make it clear why these specific adventurers are best suited for the Soldiers table.

Reasons to Leave

To begin with, the team understands precisely where to proceed after a brutal first encounter with the antagonists.

Casimir of Thjazi—whose passing started the story’s plot—manipulated The Crow Keepers for his personal gain, entering the secret base, striking the character, and swiping all the powerful objects to sell off.

The traitor then paid off his obligations and fled to a Halovar stronghouse in the remote area, above the urban center, with Teor’s brother pursuing him.

Personal Motivations

Additionally, each character has a personal reason to depart the metropolitan area:

  • The rogue, as Thjazi’s partner and closest confidant, wants retribution.
  • The adventurer has experience in Timmony and advises that it is a hostile place.
  • The strong character and The healer, having defied his house’s orders to eliminate the fighter and instead saved him, have no other options.
  • However, their status as key figures in the powerful family could assist the party enter areas they normally couldn’t.
  • Furthermore, The fighter swore a unbreakable promise to Wicander for his deliverance and will now accompany him everywhere.

Fugitives

Finally, all of them are hunted by the powers that rule the setting for a multiple motives, making lingering locally too risky:

  • The agile adventurer and The hero are recognized lawbreakers.
  • The warrior and The cleric defied the powerful family and the horde of evil beings they are partnered with.
  • The target is marked for death by the clan.

This leaves them no alternative but to travel to the remote area in pursuit of Casimir.

What’s Next?

Based on episode three’s Cooldown, we learn that the warrior group will not appear in the upcoming installment, leaving the other eight participants to round up the Seekers and Strategists tables.

Viewers can look forward to finding out which players will be in which group in the story’s concluding setup installment, streaming live on the upcoming Thursday.
