Paris Saint-Germain Overcomes Olympique de Marseille on Penalties to Secure French Super Cup in Kuwait.

Trophy celebration scene

The Parisian club has now claimed the season-opening cup on fourteen separate times.

Paris Saint-Germain required a stoppage-time equaliser followed by a successful spot-kick decider to get past Marseille in Kuwait and secure a record-extending fourth consecutive Trophee des Champions title.

The European champions seemed to be sailing towards a straightforward triumph in the match featuring the French league winners and the Coupe de France holders after the French winger found the scoring early on.

However, Marseille struck twice late to seize a shock advantage. Initially, the English forward scored from the spot-kick, before the defender unfortunately turned the ball into his own net for an own-goal.

In a remarkable twist of fortune, the Portuguese striker grabbed a vital leveler in the final moments to send the match into a deciding shootout. The Parisian shot-stopper Lucas Chevalier then emerged as the key figure, saving crucial attempts from O'Riley and Hamed Traore.

From the spot, Ramos, Vitinha, Nuno Mendes, and the young talent all converted successfully for Paris Saint-Germain to seal a 4-1 penalty win.

The record winners Paris Saint-Germain, who faced last season's Ligue 1 runners-up Marseille after completing a domestic double, have now lifted this competition for the 12th time in the last 13 years.
